Steve and Esther Johnsen began Johnsen Tutoring as a way to make their philosophy of high achievement widely available to students in the Denver Metro area.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnsen are both highly accomplished educators, having both taught in the Colorado public schools and in elite private schools out of state.
Mr. Steve Johnsen
Mr. Johnsen is one of the handful of tutors in Colorado who can effectively tutor just about any subject.
Mr. Johnsen earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics from America’s most competitive Ivy League School, completing his coursework in only three years, and graduating at the top of his class from Brown University. He has also taken classes at the University of Pennsylvania, the Wharton School of Business, and was the valedictorian of his MBA graduating class at the University of Colorado.
Mr. Johnsen spent 6 years teaching mathematics at the middle school and high school level, and for 2 years was the college admissions counselor for Acaciawood College Preparatory Academy in Southern California. He was the head of the math department at two schools, and has taught professional development courses for math teachers at various conferences. He has been tutoring, teaching and working with students in various capacities since 1984.
Mr. Johnsen tutors students in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, basic math, physics, chemistry, biology, economics, finance, statistics, SAT/ACT prep, college admissions, writing, language learning (he personally has studied Chinese, German, Hebrew, Greek and Spanish), and many other subjects.
